Crew Bidding and Rostering
Having to implement a new Crew Bidding and Rostering solution that met the business requirements, the new application presented challenges as it was designed for an on-site installation. Facility constraints, hardware capital costs and aggressive timelines all combined to provide a deployment challenge.
Through collaboration with stakeholders, conducting the necessary R&D, and building a successful Proof of Concept, the application was deployed in a Microsoft Azure cloud hosted platform.
The successful cloud deployment eliminated hardware capital costs, provided a scalable and reliable platform and reduced application infrastructure deployment time by 90 %. Removing the onsite hardware dependency was the key to building a cost efficient solution overcoming the facility constraints. Our specific aviation experience resulted in a significantly compressed timeline meeting all milestones.
MRO Application Migration
With a requirement to uncouple from an existing technology service provider, the current maintenance application had to be migrated to a new environment. Designed as on-premise deployment, an innovative solution was needed to overcome remote access limitations, facility constraints and high hardware capital costs.
Utilizing the latest Microsoft Azure cloud technologies, the Maintenance application was migrated to a cloud based platform. The end user application was consolidated on to a remote ready environment providing a seamless end user experience. Custom integrations were deployed as part of the overall solution.
The transition of the MRO application to the cloud instantly solved the remote access challenges and provided a reliable and secure hosting environment. Data center costs for hardware, space & cooling were avoided which was key in overcoming the facility constraints. The ability to scale inline with business growth resulted in a cost-efficient platform. Finally, the time & cost to develop and deploy new custom interfaces was significantly reduced.
Journey To The Cloud
Transitioning from an existing technology service provider, a replacement for email and other back-office applications was required. Wanting to reduce the footprint and cost of hosting an on-premise infrastructure of server hardware and backup systems, an alternate solution to the current infrastructure had to be assessed. With a highly mobile workforce, additional remote collaboration capabilities were desired in addition to seamless data recovery options.
A full migration to Microsoft 365 was designed, planned and executed with no operational impact. Additional collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and OneDrive were deployed to enable a remote workforce. This proved to be invaluable as the COVID pandemic forced the implementation of a Work From Home mandate.
This project was successful in controlling costs through scalable licensing requirements. It reduced technology overhead costs and streamlined IT operations. Collaboration tools boosted employee productivity providing a rich work from anywhere experience. The overall solution significantly improved the security profile providing a proactive level of awareness.
